A real marine testbed in the Mediterranean

The MED-Hubs platform is a floating installation anchored in the Bay of Cartagena, designed to support companies and research projects that want to test marine energy capture devices in a real environment.

Unlike conventional laboratories, the platform provides authentic marine conditions — currents, waves, temperature, wind — with the reliability of being fully monitored and controlled.

Companies, startups, and research institutions can install their devices on the platform, collect real-world data, and validate their technology in front of investors and buyers — without needing to own or manage their own infrastructure.

Integrated instrumentation

The platform features a set of fixed sensors that continuously record environmental marine conditions and energy output. Additional sensors can also be installed to meet the specific needs of each project.

🌊

Current meter

Continuous measurement of marine current speed and direction at the installation site.

📡

Wave sensor

Real-time recording of wave height, period, and direction.

🌡️

Water temperature

Sea surface temperature monitoring to correlate with device performance data.

🌬️

Weather station

Wind speed and direction, air temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure — all logged continuously.

☀️

Solar panel & wind turbine

The platform is self-powered through onboard renewable energy sources, ensuring autonomous operation.

📷

Underwater & surface cameras

Continuous visual surveillance of the seabed environment and the platform deck.

The platform is right for you if…

🏭

You are a company or startup

You have a marine energy device and need real-world performance data before scaling up or approaching investors.

🔬

You are a research group

You want to test prototypes or new materials in a controlled marine environment without managing your own infrastructure.

💡

You develop auxiliary technologies

You work on batteries, materials, or control systems linked to energy generation in marine environments.

Bay of Cartagena, Spain

The platform is anchored in the Bay of Cartagena, one of the most sheltered natural harbours on the Spanish Mediterranean coast — offering stable deployment conditions with direct access to open sea dynamics.
